A painting estimate usually prices a job by room or by area, with paint and primer as the material cost and the crew's time as labour, and a deposit is common once a job is big enough to book a crew around it.

A client who sees "$3,200, three bedrooms and a hallway" has no way to tell whether that is mostly paint or mostly labour, which matters if they want to supply their own paint or add a room later. Splitting each line into materials (primer, paint) and labour (the crew's time) makes both of those conversations easier.

A starter list to build the estimate from

The painting preset's starter items, surface preparation and patching, primer, paint by room or area, labour by the day, and trim and detail work, give you a working estimate in a few clicks; adjust the rooms, the paint quantity and the day rate to the job.

A deposit for a booked-in job

Once a job is big enough to block out a crew's time, a deposit protects both sides if the client cancels late. Papertern works out the deposit as a percentage or a fixed amount and shows it, along with any progress payment, as a payment schedule on the estimate.

From estimate to invoice

When the client is ready to book the job in, use the Invoice tab: the client, your business and every room and material line carry across to a country-correct invoice, so the final bill matches what was estimated.

Estimate makers by country

Each country edition uses the same tax name and business ID field as that country's invoice maker, with this preset selected.
