A roofing job usually means a meaningful deposit before materials are ordered, a defined scope of work, and a client who wants to know, in plain terms, what they are paying for tear-off, materials and the crew's labour.
Materials are often the biggest line, so show them separately
Underlayment, flashing, vents and the roofing material itself (shingles, metal or tile) can be the largest cost on the job, and their price can move between the estimate and the day the crew starts if supply is tight. Keeping materials and labour on separate lines, rather than folded into one number, means a client can see exactly what changed if a material price shifts before the job starts.
A deposit before materials are ordered
Most roofing contractors take a deposit before ordering materials, since a cancelled job after the order is placed is the contractor's loss, not the client's. Papertern's estimate maker works out the deposit for you as a percentage of the job or a fixed amount, and shows it on the estimate as a payment schedule the client can see up front, alongside any progress payment (for example, on completion of tear-off, then again at final inspection).
A starter list for a standard re-roof

Your licence number, up front
Roofing needs a trade licence or registration in most places, and a client comparing quotes will often ask for the number before they choose a contractor. Papertern's licence field puts it on the estimate itself.
